Oklahoma 386 miles |
Tulsa, on the east side of the Sooner state, is the home of Cyrus Stevens Avery the father of Route 66. He petitioned congress to commission the highway in 1926. When you travel the road through the state you'll find farm communities, old motels, museums, and a tribute to the men and women of the Oklahoma City tragedy. As this was our first time traveling to the southwest, we thought the western part of the state was desert. We learned better later in our trip. |
