The Inter-State does not go thru Kansas. It is now by-passed and forgotten by the cross country traveler, but don't you by-pass it. The towns are sleepy and nearly deserted even on a Saturday morning. In the middle of the state is a great old bridge. The main road does not cross the bridge anymore, however the route 66 travel can still cross it and stop for some pictures.
